Testing biodegradable stent to help reduce complications after surgery.

Phase N/A

This study aims to see if placing a biodegradable stent during surgery can help reduce complications after a pancreatoduodenectomy. A biodegradable stent is a tiny tube that helps keep a passage open and dissolves over time. A pancreatoduodenectomy is a surgery to remove parts of the pancreas and small intestine, often due to cancer. The researchers believe that using a stent can lower the chances of a pancreatic fistula, which is a leak that can happen after surgery.

Key Points:

  • The study involves placing a stent during surgery, aiming to prevent leaks.
  • Participants must be 18 or older and have given informed consent.
  • Those with certain health risks or on specific medications cannot join.
