Phase N/A

This study looks at how to better diagnose adrenal insufficiency (AI) in people with liver cirrhosis (LC). Liver cirrhosis is a disease where the liver is scarred and doesn't work well. Adrenal insufficiency is when the adrenal glands, which sit on top of the kidneys, don't produce enough hormones. People with liver cirrhosis may show symptoms similar to those with adrenal insufficiency like tiredness and stomach discomfort. This study involves 50 patients with liver cirrhosis. They will have a test called the rapid ACTH stimulation test, which checks how well the adrenal glands work. Blood and saliva samples will be collected and analyzed. Researchers hope to find out if measuring cortisol (a hormone) in saliva or directly in the blood is better for diagnosing AI in LC patients.

  • The study will need patients to provide blood and saliva samples.
  • Participants should not have had certain surgeries or taken specific medications recently.
  • Only those already diagnosed with liver cirrhosis can join.
