Physician Reasoning on Management Cases With Large Language Models

Doctors use AI to help understand and manage patient cases.

Phase N/A

This study is about testing how AI, like GPT-4, helps doctors make better decisions. GPT-4 is a computer program that uses artificial intelligence to understand and write text. Doctors usually use special tools to help them decide how to treat patients. This study will see if GPT-4 can do a better job than those tools.

Clinical reasoning means thinking carefully to decide the best way to treat patients. GPT-4 might help with this, but it wasn't made for medical decisions. It could make mistakes, so researchers want to know how well it works when doctors use it.

Doctors in the study will solve medical cases with or without GPT-4. They'll explain why they made certain decisions. Experts will check their answers without knowing if they used GPT-4. This helps understand if GPT-4 improves their thinking.

  • Length: One-time study participation.
  • Eligibility: Licensed doctors with certain training.
  • Risks: Possible incorrect advice from GPT-4.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?
