Pre-operative Screening of Functional Fragilities Before Open Aortic Surgery: a New Area

Phase N/A
Study Summary

Doctors are studying how to better prepare patients for open aortic surgery, which is a big operation on the main blood vessel in the belly. Sometimes, this vessel can have problems like aneurysms (a bulging or ballooning out) or blockages. These problems have become more common. Some patients need open surgery because other less invasive treatments might not work for everyone. Before surgery, doctors usually check the heart and lungs, but they want to find out how to check other body functions too. This will help them create a special plan to make patients stronger for the surgery and reduce problems afterward.

  • The study collects existing data from standard care.
  • It aims to create a risk scale to improve patient preparation.
  • Only patients undergoing open aortic surgery can join.

Patients who don’t want to participate can say no.
