Correlation of Serum Gasdermin-D and NLRP-3 Inflammasome Levels With GVHD Biomarkers and Endothelial Damage Markers in Graft-Versus-Host Disease

Studying blood markers related to graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).

18 years and older

Phase N/A

This study looks at how certain chemicals in the blood (markers) change when someone with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) gets a bone marrow transplant and develops a condition called graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). **GVHD** happens when the new cells attack the body they were put into. The study will measure levels of specific markers, like **Gasdermin-D** and **NLRP-3** (involved in a type of cell death called pyroptosis) to see if they can predict or show how bad GVHD is. Researchers will also check markers of blood vessel damage. The study uses blood samples and images of tiny blood vessels in the nail bed to gather information.

  • Participants must have AML and be at least 18 years old.
  • The study will follow participants for up to two years.
  • If someone leaves the study, new participants will be added.

FAQs

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
