Study on Diaphragmatic Breathing for Gut-Brain Disorders

This study focuses on people with gut-brain disorders, which cause tummy troubles without clear signs on medical tests. These disorders include laryngopharyngeal reflux, which makes your throat feel funny, and irritable bowel syndrome, which causes belly pain with diarrhea or constipation. Diaphragmatic breathing, a way of breathing deeply, can help soothe the nerves that control your body's automatic processes. This study will test diaphragmatic breathing's effect on these disorders through a controlled trial. Participants will be between 18 and 70 years old and must be mentally alert and willing to sign a consent form. They must not have serious medical issues or take certain medications.

  • Participants need to attend multiple sessions over a few months.
  • They will practice diaphragmatic breathing techniques.
  • Participants will be compensated for their time.
