Study on hemp fiber's effects on gut health after exercise.

Phase N/A

This study looks at whether eating a hemp fiber bar can improve gut health after exercise. The hemp seed shells have special substances called NCT and NFT that might help the gut stay healthy after intense activity. The study involves cyclists eating either a high or low dose of hemp bars or a placebo (a fake bar) for two weeks. Then they will cycle for 2.25 hours. Researchers will check if the bar helps the gut by measuring certain blood markers.

  • Duration: The study lasts for about 10 weeks, including two 2-week periods without the supplements (washout periods).
  • Visits: Participants will visit the lab 9 times, including orientation, cycling sessions, and testing.
  • Compensation: Participants will not receive compensation.

Participants should be healthy cyclists aged 18-65 and not have certain health conditions like heart disease or diabetes. They must avoid certain supplements and foods before the study and maintain their exercise routine.
