Diagnostic Efficacy of CNN in Predicting Intraoperative Complications in SMILE

Phase N/A

👁️ This study is looking at how well a computer program can predict problems during an eye surgery called **SMILE** (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction). This surgery helps fix vision problems caused by refractive errors, which means the eye doesn’t focus light properly. Sometimes, things like **opaque bubble layer** (OBL), which looks like small bubbles, or **negative pressure detachment**, where parts of the eye can separate, can happen during surgery. Doctors can usually spot these problems, but it takes a long time to learn. A special type of computer program, called a **convolutional neural network** (CNN), may help predict these issues more easily.

  • 🕒 The study is happening at several locations and checks how well the CNN works.
  • 👨‍⚕️ Participants must be 18 or older and have stable vision for 2 years.
  • 💡 You can’t join if you have had other eye surgeries or certain other eye problems.

FAQs

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
