This study focuses on helping Latinx families of young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as they move from school to adult services. Young people with ASD often struggle to get these services, leading to a "service cliff." The ASSIST program was created to teach parents how to advocate, or speak up, for these services. A **randomized controlled trial (RCT)** showed that families using ASSIST gained more knowledge and access to services. However, Latinx families often face extra challenges like language and cultural differences. This study aims to adapt the ASSIST program to better serve Latinx families by testing changes to the program.
- The study is for Latinx parents in Illinois who are over 18, have a child with autism over 12, and speak Spanish.
- The study will test the new program to see if it helps these families access services more easily.
- The goal is to make services fairer for Latinx families with youth transitioning to adulthood.
