The Mindful Caregiver Project

This study is designed to see if an 8-week mindfulness program can help family caregivers feel better mentally and physically. Mindfulness is a way of focusing on the present moment without judgment. The study will look at how the program affects stress, depression, inflammation in the body, and thinking skills like attention. There will be 232 caregivers, all over 50 years old, who will be divided into three groups: mindfulness meditation (focusing on calm awareness), psychoeducation (learning about caregiving), and caregiver respite (taking breaks). Participants will attend three testing sessions: before starting (T1), after 8 weeks (T2), and after 12 months (T3).

  • The study lasts for 12 months with follow-ups.
  • Participants must attend 8 sessions over 8 weeks.
  • You need a computer and internet access for participation.
