Laparoscopic surgery is a type of surgery that uses small cuts and a camera to operate inside the body, leading to less pain and faster recovery than regular surgery. During this surgery, doctors pump carbon dioxide gas into the belly to see better, which might increase *intracranial pressure (ICP)*, or pressure inside the head. To check ICP, doctors can measure the size of the *optic nerve sheath (ONSD)* in the eye using an ultrasound, a tool that uses sound waves to take pictures inside the body.
In this study, doctors will use an ultrasound to measure the ONSD throughout the surgery to see how the pressure changes. This technique is safe and doesn't hurt.
- The study is for patients aged 18-75 undergoing laparoscopic surgery.
- Patients with eye diseases or certain severe health conditions can't participate.
- The study involves checking the eyes with an ultrasound during surgery.
