Laparoscopic surgery is a type of surgery that uses small cuts, which means less bleeding and faster recovery. During this surgery, doctors use carbon dioxide (CO2) gas to see better, but it might raise the pressure in your head, called intracranial pressure (ICP). To check this, doctors can use an ultrasound to measure the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD), which is a safe and quick way to see if the pressure is too high.
In this study, doctors will measure the ONSD during your surgery using an ultrasound tool. They look at a spot just 3 millimeters behind the eye to get this measurement.
Participants must meet certain health criteria and cannot have certain eye or brain issues to join the study. 🏥
