Phase N/A

This study aims to involve American Indians (AI) of Southwestern Tribal Nations in cancer genome sequencing. This means researchers are looking at the genes, which are like instructions inside our cells, to understand why cancer happens and how to better prevent or treat it in AI communities. The study focuses on cancers that affect AI people more, like liver, kidney, breast, and colon cancers. Researchers will work closely with AI cancer patients and survivors, making sure their cultural needs and concerns are respected.

  • Duration & Participation: The study involves participants who are 18 or older and have had cancer.
  • Location: Participants should be from American Indian Tribes, Nations, and Pueblos of New Mexico and nearby areas.
  • Exclusions: Individuals who are under 18, cannot consent themselves, or are in prison, cannot participate.

Participants will help researchers by sharing their experiences and opinions, which can improve how genomic testing is done and communicated. Researchers will return useful genomic data to help participants understand their health better and provide guidance on next steps.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?
