The Effects of a Moderate Intensity Training Program Versus a High Intensity Training Program on Central Pain Processing

Recruiting
18-55 years
Both
Phase N/A

🌟 This study explores how different exercise programs affect pain sensitivity in healthy people who don't exercise much. Participants will follow either a moderate intensity training (MIT) or high intensity training (HIT) program. The study will help understand if exercise can improve how the body processes pain, which could be helpful for future research on chronic pain patients.

🧑‍🔬 **Who can join?** People aged 18-55 with a BMI of 20-25 kg/m², who speak Dutch and have a sedentary lifestyle (less than 3 hours of moderate activity per week). Individuals with current or past serious health conditions or those who are pregnant cannot participate.

🔍 **What will happen?** Participants will wear a fitness tracker and go through various tests to measure pain sensitivity and other health metrics. They will then complete a 10-week exercise program and have their health metrics measured again.

  • 📅 Duration: 10 weeks with 2 main testing days.
  • 🚴‍♂️ Exercise: Get assigned to a moderate or high intensity program.
  • 🩺 Tests: Check blood pressure, heart rate, and pain sensitivity.
