This study is looking at how using a tool called the Analgesia/Nociception Index (ANI) can help improve recovery after maxillofacial surgery, which is surgery on the jaw and face. Analgesia refers to pain relief and nociception is the body's process of sensing pain. The study will focus on patients who are 18 or older and having surgery on their upper or lower jaw, or both, under general anesthesia (when you are put to sleep for the surgery). Participants need to be able to understand and agree to the study details and complete some surveys. People who are pregnant, have certain health issues, or are on chronic pain medication won’t be included.
- The study involves goal-directed pain management to see if it helps with recovery.
- Participants need to be adults having specific types of jaw surgery.
- Some medical conditions or medications may prevent participation.
