The Cardio-Metabolic Clinic

Phase N/A

This study looks at how a Cardio-Metabolic Clinic can help people with both diabetes and heart disease. The clinic offers specialized care by looking at the whole health of a patient, using the latest knowledge, and providing aggressive treatment with heart-protective medicines. The study, called the ProtecT-2-D trial, will compare the care at this special clinic to regular care to see if there's a difference in heart health and death rates. People in the study will be randomly placed into two groups: one receiving care at the clinic and the other receiving standard treatment. Over 3 years, participants will have health checks and, after 5 to 10 years, any complications will be reviewed. The aim is to see if the clinic's care improves health outcomes for patients with type 2 diabetes.

  • Study lasts for 3 years with follow-ups at 5 and 10 years.
  • You might receive special care at the Cardio-Metabolic Clinic.
  • Around 1600 participants are needed, with a chance of dropping out.
