This study investigates how Behavioral Activation (BA) therapy affects the brain activity of depressed teens aged 15-17. Researchers use a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scan to observe brain changes before, during, and after therapy. The study focuses on understanding how BA helps with low motivation and avoiding threats, comparing these changes with healthy teens who don't have depression. The study involves 136 participants, including 96 depressed teens and 40 healthy ones. Teens who turn 18 during the study can continue with a new consent. Participants will have five fMRI scans, including three task-based sessions and two additional sessions. The goal is to understand symptom changes and their link to low motivation and threat avoidance.
Note: Teens with certain mental health conditions or who are pregnant cannot participate.
