This study is for adults aged 18 and older with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 27 or more and Type 2 Diabetes. BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. The study tests a medicine called **survodutide** (BI 456906) to check if it helps people with diabetes and obesity lose weight. Participants are randomly placed into 3 groups: two groups receive different doses of survodutide, and one group gets a placebo. A placebo looks like the real medicine but doesn't contain any active ingredients. Participants inject the medicine or placebo under their skin once a week for about 1 year and 7 months and receive guidance on diet and exercise.
Key Points:
- The study lasts for about 1 year and 7 months, with up to 14 visits and 6 phone calls.
- Participants have a 2 in 3 chance of receiving the actual medicine.
- Doctors monitor health and any side effects, and compare weight loss results between groups.
