Phase N/A

Study Overview: This study looks at how a diet high in fiber-rich foods like legumes (beans) can help reduce obesity and prevent colon cancer. The study focuses on people who are overweight or have had a colon polyp removed in the past three years.

Fiber and Health: Fiber helps your body in many ways. It can be turned into short chain fatty acids (SCFA) that have health benefits like reducing inflammation and possibly lowering cancer risk. Eating a high-fiber diet can also help with weight loss by making you feel full and changing your gut bacteria for better health.

  • **Study Duration:** 12 months with meals provided for the first 6 months.
  • **Eligibility:** Adults 40-75 years old, English-speaking, with a BMI of 25-40, and have had a colonoscopy showing a polyp.
  • **Participation:** You'll receive meals and need to attend clinical exams and tests.

Participants will eat two meals a day for the first three months and one meal a day for the next three months. For the last six months, you'll prepare your own food. This study aims to see if a high-fiber diet helps with weight loss and reduces cancer risk markers.
