Phase 2
**Effect of Equol Supplementation on Arterial Stiffness and Cognition in Healthy Volunteers** The ACE Trial is a study to see if taking Equol, a supplement from soy, can help slow down stiffening of arteries and memory decline. Arteries are like tubes that carry blood in your body, and when they get stiff, it can be bad for your health. Equol has plant compounds similar to estrogen, a hormone. This study is conducted by universities in Pittsburgh, Winston-Salem, and Atlanta. Participants will take Equol tablets every day for 2 years and attend 7 clinic visits. At these visits, they will have tests like Pulse Wave Velocity, which checks how stiff the arteries are, and an MRI, which is a picture of the brain. They will also do thinking and memory tests. **Key Points:** - **Participation Length:** The study lasts for 2 years with 7 clinic visits. - **Eligibility:** Healthy individuals aged 65-85 who are not taking regular soy supplements. - **Compensation & Risks:** There may be compensation for participation, but risks include possible side effects from the supplement. This trial is important because it could improve understanding of how Equol affects memory and artery health in older adults.
