Improving Surgical Outcomes With Early PT After ACDF

Recruiting
18-75 years
Both
Phase N/A

ACDF stands for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, a neck surgery to remove a damaged disc. This study looks at how physical therapy (PT), which is exercise and treatment to help you move better, can help after this surgery. Participants are split into two groups: one starts PT early (within 3 months) and the other later (after 3 months). The study checks if starting PT earlier improves recovery, like getting stronger or reducing pain.

  • The study lasts for 12 months with follow-up visits at 3, 6, and 12 months.
  • 76 participants will be enrolled, with each group having 38 people.
  • Participants need to be 18-75 years old and speak English.

To join, you shouldn't have conditions like severe psychiatric disorders or recent neck surgeries. Also, you should be able to attend follow-up visits. This study will help find the best time to start PT for quicker recovery after neck surgery.
